A Church of Scotland Minister born at Scone in 1832 and recognised as one of the foremost preachers of his time. Educated at St Andrews, he held ministries at Monimail in Fife, Tron in Glasgow and St Cuthberts’ in Edinburgh. In 1891 James McGregor was appointed Moderator of the General Assembly. During his life “he became something of a cult figure, the magnetism of his powers of communication holding large congregations spellbound.”
