A native of Perth, Marjory Kennedy Fraser, singer and folk-song collector was born in 1857. Classically trained in Paris she applied her abilities to the Scottish folk tradition producing in the early part of the 1900s important work on many Hebridean songs. A songwriter in her own right, Marjory Kennedy Fraser wrote the libretto for the opera, The Seal Woman by Granville Bantock. Her death was in 1930.
